Fernando de Noronha is a group of 21 volcanic islands 340 miles from Recife, Pernambuco, which was declared National Marine Park since 1988, in order to protect land and marine vegetation as well as land animals and marine life. In fact is difficult to catalogue Fernando de Noronha as a beach, because is a group of islands with many beaches, but we at Brazil Beaches decided to do it because will be unfair to make a ranking of the best beaches in Brazil and not include the most beautiful place in the whole country.
The most important island in Fernando de Noronha, who has the same name as the group of islands, has 7.1 square miles and the total population rise to 2,100 inhabitants. Here you can find interesting historic sites to visit, like the ruins of Fort of Sao Pedro, but of course the main attraction at Fernando de Noronha is its islands and beaches. Besides Fernando de Noronha itself you can find other 20 islands and you can divide the beaches in two groups: the ones pointing Brazil (10 beaches and a Dolphin Bay) and the ones pointing Africa (4 beaches, lot of swimming pools and one creek).
WHERE TO STAY AND HOW TO GO - HOTELS AND FLIGHTS
Here there are no major hotels to stay. That is the idea of the island, to be in touch with nature. However, there is a wide variety of villas (Pousadas) that you can select. Most of them are old houses, previously used by the inhabitants that have made major structural changes to receive guests from all over the world and reach the level of comfort to compete with any Hotel you know.
You can pick up your flight in Natal or in Recife and go directly to Fernando de Noronha in approximately 1 hour. There are two flights per day from each of the airports. A local company named TRIP sends cheap ticket to make this internal Brazil flight.

OTHER BEACHES IN FERNANDO DE NORONHA
There are 21 beaches in Fernando de Noronha and you can divide them in the ones that are in the Inside Sea and the ones that are in the Outside Sea. Here you can find a brief description of the best ones:
Leao Beach - A big rock in the middle of the ocean is the most distinguished characteristic of this beach, besides the white sand and the natural swimming pools. This is the perfect beach to see turtles and turtle's eggs and due to this it has a strict control that makes that in the eggs laying period you can not go to this beach before 6 PM.
Southeast Bay - Is a perfect bay-beach with very calm water. Next to it there is ruins of the Sao Joaquim Fort, which was very important in the colonial time.
Inside Sea -
Sancho Bay - Maybe the best beach in Fernando de Noronha, here you can stop the boat for swimming and there is no danger about damaging the reefs.
Porcos Bay - Completely formed by stones, this bay has a lot of natural swimming pools.
